So i've slimmed the Friend's List down a bit. There were about ten or fifteen that I hadn't friended to begin with, and another ten or fifteen i've cut from the list. No offense to anyone. Just, I haven't felt some people even gave a damn. My MySpace is still open to all if you're interested, but I always intended for LJ to be more of a close-knit thing I think.
Though my current Friend's List isn't set in stone, of course. If you'd like to be added, respond to this post here. No, not this current post; the one I linked to. Responding to this post is a sure-fire way to make me giggle at your ignorance.

I believe that picture sums up what words can not.

| You're being voted off the island. Yes. You. |
[14 Nov 2016|09:36pm] |
So i've been considering. Considering cutting up my friend's list on both here and AIM and maybe even making this Friend's Only. I'm just not big on the 'lurker' thing that many of my 'friends' do, without so much as a comment or a message once in awhile. No, it doesn't count when I message you first. >.>
There's a few I know i'm definetly going to cut loose, a few i'm iffy about, but only three who have a 'Get Out Of Jail Free' card. Sooo, if you want to hang on for the ride, respond below to this question. The more interesting, entertaining or silly your answer, the better.
If we were stuck together on an otherwise deserted island, what three things would you want to bring?
I'll check back in a few days. Don't bore me people!

They'll bring down the cost of gas, but then you'll pay double the difference in raised taxes. But whatever. So long as they don't give amnesty to illiegal immigrants, i'll deal. Which they want to. But I thoroughly doubt would ever get passed.

| What's your Netflix queue look like? |

I love Netflix. It's approximately 8.2 x better than going to Blockbuster, Hollywood Video or whatever local rental place you frequent. I've been on a big kick for both Studio Ghibli(Miyazaki mostly) and Akira Kurosawa films lately. I've probably seen about seven or eight from each, with at least another two from each in my queue. <3
Miyazaki tells beautiful stories of youthful innocence. Studio Ghibli is like the Japanese Disney, except less songs and more depth and imagination. It's interesting watching his movies, interesting to know a grownup can reach into the heart of a child over and over and just put out such masterpieces seemingly written by children themselves. Studio Ghibli was actually bought by Disney some years back and most of their movies have seen U.S. remakes with spectacular voice talent. Billy Crystal, Christian Bale, Uma Thurman, Patrick Stewart, Phil Hartman, Billy Bob Thornton, Mark Hamill, Tim Curry, Anne Hathaway, Anna Paquin, Cary Elwes, Michael Keaton, and a bunch more.
Kurosawa does live action films, mostly samurai movies, but all taking place in Japan; the ones i've seen anyway. I don't know how to sum his films up other than to say they're incredibly intelligent and full of spirit. Every line, every shot well thought out to the finest extent. Alot of his films were made during the 40's, 50's, 60's, and as such are black and white, not to mention subtitled because of being a Japanese movie. But well worth checking out. The only way I can properly express how incredible of a storyteller he is is that Coppola, Lucas, and Spielberg all studied under him for a time. Oh, and he's got an Oscar or two under his belt.
Throne of Blood is a remake of the Shakespeare play Macbeth. Ran is a remake of the Shakespeare play King Lear. Seven Samurai was remade as a western movie The Magnificent Seven, and is rumored to see another remake in 2008. Yojimbo was remade into a Clint Eastwood movie called A Fistful of Dollars. And Patch Adams is very reminiscent of Red Beard.
Check these two movies out. Click all the links and you win a prize!
So, what's in your rental queue?

So we've..failed to protect people who aren't even ours to protect.
When we come across such people, aren't we legally obligated to report them to immigration anyway?
They're not 'vulnerable to exploitation' because the government 'fails to protect them'. They're 'vulnerable to exploitation' because they broke the law the moment they entered the country, have no understanding of the language, and no skills to contribute to society; that's one hell of a first impression. I'm not saying to fuck off and die, you're still a human being Pedro, but c'mon, meet me halfway here. Lets do things without breaking the law from Day 1 and see where that gets us.
We all have ancestors who came over from other countries, so the racism card isn't one that can be played here. But, mine came over legally.

SilentAria00: Zeromus brings back memories for me. When I beat FF IV, I sent in a picture of the end screen and got published in Nintendo Power.
SilentAria00: Battle With The Four Fiends is okay.
Xelric15: Awesome
Xelric15: I recall beating something and getting it published by NP back-in-the-day, but for the life of me I can't remember. I'm thinking some TMNT game but that's it.
SilentAria00: Turtles In Time?
Xelric15: May of been. It's not a lack of names, just I can't remember which one it was.
SilentAria00: Oh. All right, sorry man. Didn't meant to imply you were stupid or anything.
SilentAria00: I was just guessing because now I'm curious.
SilentAria00: I was a big fan of the TMNT games.
Xelric15: No, no, I think you did mean to imply my stupidity.
Xelric15: I think you meant further, I think you assumed i'm some sort of raging retard who gets to park up front, but you didn't have the cojones to say it.
SilentAria00: Well fuck, I didn't think you'd be smart enough to catch on to it.
Xelric15: Oh I was
Xelric15: I'm stupid-smart, like the kids say.
SilentAria00: Well take your retarded ass to the park or something, I can't deal with the fact that your mother touched you.
Xelric15: For the record I was too stupid to know she was touching me.
Xelric15: I actually thought that was my hand.
SilentAria00: I don't even know what to say right now. Well played, sir.
SilentAria00: Well played.
Xelric15: Victory.
SilentAria00: Send a screenshot to NP.

| One of my favorites. Highly recommended. |
[28 Oct 2006|10:30pm] |
So before I came online I was flipping through the channels, figuring i'd watch about ten more minutes of tv then hop on the computer for awhile. Then I came across this movie, which i've seen a bunch of times before and even own, but it still drew me in and found my soft spot. I didn't cry, it's been awhile since I did that, but I almost did a few times, some of the scenes hitting close to home. I'm a big softie. What can I say? It's absolutely beautiful.
And two and a half hours later, here I am. Because it just ended. <3
It's about a year in the life of a group of friends, about everything that happens to them all in that time period. Originally a Broadway play, it won several awards before going to dvd last year.
'Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. Five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear. Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. How do you measure, measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes - how do you measure a year in the life? How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love... seasons of love.'

The article itself is pretty boring, but I enjoy dissing Xbox in any way, shape or form. Oh, i'll give them their props, in the rare times they earn 'em. But this isn't one of them.
"For example, in September PS2 sales hit 307,000, while Microsoft racked up 260,000 Xbox 360 sales, according to market research firm NPD."
Ha. Ha ha. Considering their shiny new toy can't even outsell a seven-year-old system, that's a bit of shame to live down.
Ok, other than that? Not alot to report from the front. 'Stella' is one of the funniest things i've ever seen; if you haven't, go grab the dvd like yesterday. Fae is making me join her rp community, though I use the word 'make' loosely. I actually had a choice, but not a good one, and i'll take joining her com over a ferocious disembowelment any day of the week. Megan gave me a link and tricked me into playing web sudoku when i'm bored, because apparently I don't waste enough time already. It took me a friggin hour to complete a game on 'Evil' difficulty yesterday, but in some weird way I enjoyed it. I think.
Oh, and i've been watching this a ton when i'm bored, usually when rp'ing or just hanging out on AIM. Matisyahu, Fort Minor and Korn I all highly recommend for your viewing pleasure in the 'archives' section. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kanye West both give really good performances too, and also 'Rent', though the last one might seem a little out of context if you haven't seen the movie/play.
Hm. I need something fun to do. Suggestions?

"Excellent! I have to bookmark it, though, because I'm already behind in getting ready to go out"
"because I work on Latino time - but that only buys me so much leeway, especially when going out with other Latinos"
"Latino time? I'm afraid I am unaware of this joke, and that makes me sad."
" Latino time is just another type of Colored People Time - the theory being that all people of color have to be at least 15 minutes late to wherever they're going"
"I personally prefer them to be early, so they can park my car."
